40 Bleecker Street Decimated Ahead of its 12-Story Luxury Conversion
There isn’t much left of 40 Bleecker Street. Three months since the demolition permits were issued, the structure is completely obliterated. In its place, another monument for luxury.
As previously reported, the second coming of 40 Bleecker Street is a 12-story condo project by Broad Street Development. The developer purchased the property for a whopping $178.5 million back in 2015. There wil be 61 one- to three- bedroom units (penthouses, too). Other amenities include private parking and a pool. Apartments will begin at under $2 million, with sales expected to launch later this year.
To that end, a new sales office is in the works just across Lafayette Street at the Bayard-Condict Building.
And in case you’re wondering about the design, this new construction is not subject to approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission since it was excluded from the protections of the NoHo Historic District.
40 Bleecker joins a well-endowed class of new one-percent constructions in the now-unrecognizable NoHo – Annabelle Selldorf’s 10 Bond, Morris Adjmi’s 11 Great Jones Street, Herzog & de Meuron’s 40 Bond Street, and the under-construction 1 Great Jones Alley.
