Margaret Chin Handily Defeats Opponents to Keep City Council Seat
For upstart Christopher Marte, the dream is no longer. Incumbent Democratic Councilwoman Margaret Chin handily won election for the District 1 seat.
With nearly 100% of ballots reported, Chin secured victory with 10,572 votes to Marte’s 8,502, and challenger Aaron Foldenauer’s 1,013 votes.
Up in District 2, Democrat Carlina Rivera won the vote for councilwoman.
And, largest of all, Mayor de Blasio is still the mayor for a second term of four years.
