Essex Street Gets Another Arcade with ‘Water World Amusements’
Here’s something unexpected. Essex Street will soon welcome another arcade.
Yesterday afternoon, the canopy for Water World Amusements was hoisted to the north marquee of 35 Essex Street, formerly home to a flooring warehouse. (The south space went to Delancey Wines last year.) Strange name for the business, given its disposition as an arcade and not an amusement park with log flumes and the like.
Anyway, unlike the five-year-old Two-Bits Retro Arcade closer to Stanton Street, this game palace appears geared more toward younger kids. There are already some cabinets situated inside, including Dance Dance Revolution, ticket prize machines, the electronic claw, and driving games.
