‘Ariel’s Bistro’ at Clinton and Houston Calls it Quits
Ariel’s Latin Bistro, which arrived on the Lower East Side nightlife scene in June 2014, is down for the count. The bar-restaurant closed last week with little notice to the neighborhood.
And while the decorative lights still gleam within, leasing signs in the windows cancel it out.
That Ariel’s shuttered isn’t out of the blue. Indeed, it was one year ago when the principals sought to unload the assets to a business that ultimately did not bite – something called the Bowery Craft House. For the record, Community Board 3 did approve that license transfer in January 2017.
Before all this, 293 East Houston was the longtime home of the Clinton Restaurant. It was a popular locals spot for years, but eventually folded in 2010. A change of ownership brought on Pinalito, then later, Ariel’s Latin Bistro.
