Bowery Lighting District Contracts as ‘New York Lighting’ Consolidates with Sister Store
After more than a decade on the Bowery, New York Lighting is leaving its two-store gallery space in the coming weeks. Window-wide posters announce that the business is moving.
In fact, we are told the lease is up and that New York Lighting is consolidating operations with its sister store, The Light House, just up the block near Delancey Street.
Their departure makes sense. Emmut Properties purchased the buildings more than two years ago, along with its 200-year-old neighbors, now buried under that brick-clad eight-story development.
No word just yet on the fate of this historic building. There are no permits for demolition or new construction at the moment, but don’t be surprised if that happens.
