‘GrandLo Cafe’ Debuts at Essex Crossing Today

GrandLo Cafe – the new “nosh-for-profit” coffee shop to land on the Lower East Side – is ready to roll at Essex Crossing. It had been in previews for weeks.
The Grand Street Settlement is in charge of the 2,500 square-foot social enterprise, providing “sustainably sourced coffee” and job training to area 16- to 24-year-olds. Soft open is today through March 16, from 8am to 1pm. To celebrate, they’ll be slinging a $3 special that includes Counter Culture coffee and a pastry, provided by Brick City Baking Company. Regular business hours commence on March 19.
As previously reported, the Grand Street Settlement also operates the onsite senior center. (It shares the overall commercial space at Site 6 with a $32.9 million, 55,000 square-foot outpatient hospital for NYU Langone.)
