DOH Shuts Little Canal Over ‘Electrical Problems’
The Department of Health on Friday shut down trendy corner cafe, Little Canal, without much notice. Inspectors pasted the token yellow sticker to the front window of 26 Canal Street along with a handwritten sign (on graph paper).
Ownership blames the closure on “electrical problems” that are affecting the establishment’s refrigeration units. The same announcement also indicates that Little Canal should reopen later this afternoon … or tomorrow, as per the post on its Facebook page.
We’ll keep you posted.
Little Canal debuted at the corner of Rutgers Street in August 2016. It’s owned and operated by Lower East Side local Jeremy Barnas, and has since become a popular draw.
