‘Sauce’ Takes its Pizzeria Next Door on Rivington Street

Corner of Orchard and Rivington, June 2018

Sauce is taking its pizza concept into familiar territory. The space next door.

Four months after opening a standalone pizza parlor in the East Village, Sauce is bringing the concept back home. No longer content with its pizza window at the northeast corner of Allen and Rivington Streets, the pizzeria recently acquired the lease on the adjacent spot at 84 Rivington.

Expanding into the cornershop that formerly hosted Sweet Buttons.

In the meantime, it’s unclear how the fire at Sauce two weeks ago will affect the timeline of opening, currently slated for the “week of January 14.”

Sauce itself remains closed, and was not immediately available for comment.
