Early Morning Fire Knocks out Black Seed Bagels on Elizabeth Street

Daybreak today saw a fire erupt at Black Seed Bagels on Elizabeth Street. The blaze started just before 6:30am – the morning breakfast rush – and smoke was seen billowing out of the storefront.
The Fire Department responded to 170 Elizabeth Street immediately – an all hands call – and worked to extinguish the flames. A ladder truck also deployed. By 7:45am, it was reportedly under control.
Damage appears pretty extensive, but no word on when Black Seed will reopen.
We’re told that no one was injured.
