Cafe Petisco Closes After Basement Wall Collapses
Popular neighborhood haunt, Cafe Petisco on East Broadway, is down for the count. Closed until further notice.
The business announced this week that a basement wall in the building was compromised due to nearby construction on Jefferson Street. The collapse hindered “our ability to keep the restaurant operating.”
Apparently, said construction is potentially related to Con Edison work. We’re told that lots of steam had been billowing from the street the last few weeks.
Cafe Petisco updated its customers with a computer printout at the door:
Due to construction on Jefferson Street, a Wall in our basement has collapsed compromising our ability to keep the restaurant operating.
We caught the matter quickly and are trying to fix it as fast as we can.
