Dudley’s Closes Temporarily for Expansion onto Broome Street
Dudley’s closed for business yesterday as it prepares for a major overhaul. The eight-year-old restaurant acquired the adjacent corner space on Broome Street and is expanding its overall footprint.
Plans for this ambitious annex at 261 Broome first surfaced six months ago during Community Board 3 proceedings, and is only now progressing. The wall between both stores is currently in splinters.
The expansion essentially creates enough legroom for 15 tables and 32 seats, plus one large table in the basement with 14 seats. In so doing, Dudley’s now controls an entire prime corner of the Lower East Side.
