Paulaner’s Former Bowery Brewery Can be Yours for $50K per Month
The only brewery on the Bowery remains dry and desperate for investors. But only if you have deep pockets.
Over a year since its high-profile failure, the former Paulaner Brauhaus at 265 Bowery is again on the market. Requisite real estate listings want you to know that the German beer company dropped $2 million on building out the premises. The 4,500 square-foot brewery is now going for a whopping $50,400 per month in rent.
The placement of a German microbrewery in this spot – formerly the iconic Sammy’s Bowery Follies – seemed a hefty gamble upon announcement in 2012. It replaced Attias Oven Corp./Cannon Co. restaurant suppliers (building owners), which relocated to Brooklyn. From the get-go, many in the community questioned its financial viability. No more was that evident than four months into operations (circa April 2014) when the enormous establishment suddenly shuttered for unspecified “refurbishments.”
