The Children’s Place on Delancey Street Might Not Survive 2020
The Lower East Side outpost of The Children’s Place is operating on borrowed time. The tombstone leasing banner beside its store signage at 126 Delancey says it all.
Diving deeper into the real estate listing – repped by Sinvin [PDF] – it appears the 7,600 square-foot space is available starting November 2020. And Essex Crossing is naturally the main selling point here (“located at the crossroads of the new Essex Crossing development”).
All uses are considered for the replacement, but given the size of the store, expect another big-box retailer. Rent is not immediately available.
As for The Children’s Place, the company has pinballed around Delancey Street for two decades. It held down a sizable footprint inside the former Loews Delancey for years, but relocated down the block to 126 Delancey in the spring of 2011.
