Shoplifter Pulls Knife When Confronted in Target Store at Essex Crossing
The Target at Essex Crossing still has one on its proverbial back. This time, a violent shoplifter carrying a blade.
At about 4:15pm Friday, employees called 911 after seeing a man stealing merchandise from the Grand Street store, police said.
Security spotted the perp placing items inside a Trader Joe’s bag (the grocery is downstairs from Target). Upon confrontation by the guard, he reportedly pulled out a knife. The man then fled the scene on foot, last seen on Grand Street.
Ever since its opening in August 2018, the big-box retailer has battled shoplifting. Within the first weeks of launch, the Target fell victim to 42 reported thefts.
