Time Looks Short for ‘il Mattone’ Pizzeria on East Houston

Less than a year after opening on the Lower East Side, it appears time is short for il Mattone.
This third Manhattan outpost for the pizzeria – behind the West Village and Tribeca – opened at 147 East Houston in May 2019. It renovated and took over the space formerly occupied by Lucky’s Burger.
But now there is a real estate listing making the rounds pitching the establishment as perfect for a new restaurant. The broker implores potential suitors to “be discreet if you go in” to check out the space.
According to the listing, the $12,500 per month opportunity is a “key money lease assignment with 9 years left on the lease in brand new move-in condition.”
