Thieves Continue to Target ‘Ginger & Lemongrass’ on Rivington Street

Surveillance footage of iPad heist
With coronavirus lockdown the new normal, crime is seemingly on the rise around the Lower East Side.
And Ginger & Lemongrass, the two-year-old Vietnamese restaurant at 153 Rivington Street, is apparently a ripe target. The business last week fell victim to theft for the second time in as many months.
“The Lower East Side is getting scarier each day now,” owner Petra Rickman tells us.
On Friday afternoon, at 3:47pm, a man entered 153 Rivington Street, sat at the bar, and nabbed an iPad. He walked right out and met his alleged accomplice outside. Which means it could be a crew targeting places.
Two months earlier, in a separate incident on March 15, thieves gained entry and walked away with the entire cash register. The till of which contained some $400 in cash.
Ginger & Lemongrass joined the fast-casual scene at the tail-end of 2017.
