With COLORS Faded, the ‘Bun Hut’ Takes 178 Stanton Street
Where COLORS faded, a new concept for 178 Stanton Street.
That’s right, gone not three months, and the ground floor space is again occupied. This time by a fast-casual newcomer called the Bun Hut. It’s an Asian fusion joint that combines Chinese Bao with culinary elements from the Caribbean.
Signage is already in place and the business is serving … in line with the takeout and delivery mandate. The Bun Hut opened last week.
This is a retail space seemingly devoid of luck. Indeed, seemingly every endeavor to open at 178 Stanton in the last decade shuttered in short order. Five different bar-restaurants attempted – COLORS tried twice here, but failed earlier this year; Lowlife, shuttered in June 2016 after a six-month run; it was preceded by Stanton Kitchen (d. June 2015) and the Moldy Fig (d. February 2012). Now, COLORS joins the club.
Is just another lesson in futility at this address?
