Unhappy with Fare, Passenger Pulls Gun on Cabbie on East Houston
A passenger angry with the cab fare pulled a gun on the driver while on the Lower East Side, police said.
Shortly before 2:00am last Tuesday morning (August 25), a taxicab dropped off three men at the corner of East Houston and Suffolk Streets. The passengers were reportedly unhappy with the fare and began arguing with the driver.
The exchange became heated until one of the men punched the left side of the cabbie’s face with a “closed fist.” He then pulled a gun and swiped $40 in cash from the center console.
The unidentified males took flight eastbound on East Houston Street.
Detectives are actively investigating.
