Suspect Accused of Shooting Pregnant Girlfriend on LES Arrested in New Jersey
A parolee accused of shooting his pregnant girlfriend during an argument in her Lower East Side apartment was arrested Friday in New Jersey, police said.
The gunman, Bronx resident Dennis Fredricks, reportedly fired two or three shots at his pregnant girlfriend in the Vladeck Houses at 8:45pm Thursday night. He quickly fled the scene.
Officers responding to the crime found the victim bleeding from a neck wound in the first-floor apartment. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, while the condition of the unborn child is not known.
Fredricks and the victim also have a young son, according to published reports.
The Bergen County sheriff’s office located Fredricks at about 11:45 p.m., cops said. He was taken into custody without incident and is expected to be returned to Manhattan to face attempted-murder charges.
