‘26Red’ Revives ‘90s Streetwear with Orchard Street Boutique
The nineties called, it wants its apparel brand back.
Indeed, the recent resurgence of 26Red this year – revived from obscurity by owner John Bernard – has resulted in a new Lower East Side boutique.
There is now a dedicated, 600 square-foot store at 145 Orchard Street in Hell Square. (Inside the former DaRucci leather vendor.) It opened last month, but a “grand opening” won’t happen until next spring.
Apparently, social media helped fuel the comeback for the west-coast streetwear brand, which hasn’t seen action since 1997.
“John decided the time was right to bring the brand back after seeing all the 26red vintage pieces being sold on Etsy & Depop,” the copy reads on the official website.
