Police arrested a Lower East Side man yesterday in connection with the death of his 22-month-old son who had drugs in his system, according to the NYPD.

The city’s medical examiner determined last month that the toddler – Charles Rosa-Velloso – suffered acute intoxication from fentanyl and cocaine. Police subsequently ruled it a homicide.

Now, 51-year-old Anthony Rosa is in custody and charged with manslaughter in the death of his son, according to published reports.

Charles Rosa-Velloso died the morning of June 17 in the Baruch Houses, reportedly after his father found him unconscious and face down on a bed covered in vomit. The boy had been living in the apartment with his parents, and at the time of his death, the mother was in the hospital giving birth to the couple’s child.

He was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
