SantaCon Descends Upon Downtown Tomorrow

SantaCon 2021 is back in business tomorrow. Brace.

Organizers of the controversial costumed crawl unveiled the 2021 route earlier this week, which starts at 10:00am at 40th and Broadway. “We will be dancing in the streets and will unleash a holiday celebration NYC has never imagined possible!” reads the SantaCon website.

As with years past – pre-COVID, of course – this type of statement wasn’t always hyperbole. Especially in the East Village and Lower East Side.

While the official SantaCon route does not include participating watering holes south of Houston Street, that probably won’t stop costumed revelers from doing so. Nor deter non-sanctioned bars from accepting the business. (The closest it comes is The Grayson on First Avenue.)

The infamous annual event requires a $13 donation for the Santa Badge granting all-inclusive access to participating SantaCon venues. Proof of vaccination is required at the doors in order for entry.
