The homeless man who stabbed to death a Chinatown woman early Sunday morning was charged with murder yesterday.
Assamad Nash, 25, a homeless man on the Bowery, was charged with murdering Christina Yuna Lee after following her into her Chrystie Street apartment.
Cops say a neighbor across the hall on the top floor of 111 Chrystie Street (just south of Delancey) called 911 at around 4:30am Sunday morning after hearing the 35-year-old victim screaming. Officers arrived, and after a brief standoff with Nash (who tried to escape) found Lee in her bathroom, bloody in the tub; Nash allegedly knifed her multiple times about the body, and pronounced dead at the scene.
What’s more, Nash had been free on supervised release after three arrests in four months for an array of crimes, according to published reports.
