Viva Birria Making it Permanent with Ludlow Street Shop
A popular pop-up taco shop is making things permanent with a brick-and-mortar in Hell Square.
Viva Birria began as an in-house taco experience at Orchard Street bar, Boys Don’t Cry. Its signature menu item is a Mexican beef stew served with tortillas, available in beef, pork shoulder and jackfruit versions.
The business first announced its move to the Lower East Side around this time last year, but still hasn’t opened.
Viva Birria is the first business to occupy the south store 153 Ludlow, vacant since the building was gutted and upscaled five years ago.
Its commercial address mate was last occupied by booze free bottle shop, Spirited Away, which relocated to Mott Street last summer after less than a year here.
