Driver Shot in Chest on Madison Street, Drives to Kips Bay Hospital
A man shot in the chest in a suspected road rage incident on the Lower East Side yesterday drove himself to Kips Bay, and is now in critical condition, according to published reports.
The driver was reportedly shot in the chest while in his car at Madison and Montgomery Streets before 1:30pm yesterday afternoon. He managed to continue driving north to seek out assistance near NYU Langone Hospital in Kips Bay, about three miles away. Eyewitnesses also reported seeing the victim driving the vehicle with a blown out rear window near the FDR Drive.
There, the victim flagged down help, and was later admitted, and transferred to Bellevue in critical condition.
Police are still investigating.
