Elderly Woman Hit by Sanitation Truck While Crossing Kenmare Street
An elderly woman crossing Kenmare Street at Mott was hit by a city Sanitation truck yesterday morning.
Surveillance video taken from a nearby store appears to show the garbage truck colliding with the victim at around 11:00am in the crosswalk while she had right of way.
As fortune would dictate, police and firefighters were one block away and responded immediately.
Miraculously, the victim sustained only lacerations to the arm, but her overall condition remains unknown.
The truck driver reportedly stayed at the scene and was not arrested.
“Safety is of the utmost importance to the 10,000 members of service of the Department of Sanitation, and our thoughts are with this individual,” a Sanitation Department spokesperson told AMNY. We will conduct a full investigation into this incident
