Mural Planned for Facade of Apple Bank on Grand Street
The confluence of Grand Street and East Broadway will soon receive some color with a new nature-themed mural. Fittingly, just one week removed from Earth Day.
Indeed, a new artist installation aims to transform the drab walls of the local Apple Bank at 465 Grand Street.
A collaboration between Elissa Levy, Vanessa Albury, and Virginia Inés Vergara, “Selva & Shadow” is composed of three photographic prints, each approximately 8-feet-by-11-feet. The press release describes the incoming installation as a reflection on the “city’s complex and shifting relationship with nature. The works create awareness that nature is all around us and point to environmental concerns.”
These mural projects are part of Neumeraki’s “Art Off-Screen,” the two-year-old international exhibition of artwork and performances in public spaces.
The artists are at the end of a crowdfunding push, via IndieGoGo, to help buoy the project.
