Russ & Daughters Story to be Adapted into TV Drama Series
Russ & Daughters is headed to the small screen.
Indeed, the story of the iconic Lower East Side appetizing business has been adapted into a scripted series examining the hundred-plus-year history and family behind it. Fourth-generation owners from the Russ family, Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper, partnered with TIME Studios for the new show.
“The story of Russ & Daughters – and the constellation of characters that make up our delicious world – spans over a century and is about perseverance, family, community and connection,” said Federman and Tupper in a joint statement to Deadline. “We are so thrilled to partner with Kim Rozenfeld and TIME Studios to tell our story, which we know will literally and figuratively make viewers hungry.”
With wheels in motion, the next step is finding a writer and shooting. It could hit the air sometime next year.
There is also a 2014 PBS documentary worth checking out, dubbed The Sturgeon Queens.
