Viva Birria Storefront Food Truck Begins Serving Ludlow Street this Weekend
For Viva Birria, the time is now.
One year after first announcing its plans for a new Lower East Side location, opening day is finally set. The restaurant will begin serving this weekend from its new food-truck-inspired takeout window at 153 Ludlow Street.
Indeed, the storefront was built to resemble the back of a typical food truck, complete with wheels and canopy.
Grand opening is Saturday, when customers can receive a free taco with every purchase. (Soft opening is tomorrow.)
Viva Birria began as an in-house taco experience at Orchard Street bar, Boys Don’t Cry. Its signature menu item is a Mexican beef stew served with tortillas, available in beef, pork shoulder and jackfruit versions.
It’s the first business to occupy the south store of 153 Ludlow, which had been vacant since the building was gutted and upscaled five years ago.
