Russ & Daughters to Reopen its Orchard Street Cafe After 2 Years of Pandemic Sidelining
Closed since the outset of the pandemic more than two years ago, Russ & Daughters is finally reopening its branded cafe on Orchard Street.
The century-old Lower East Side business announced its return on Instagram yesterday. Saying that it’ll happen sometime “in the coming weeks.”
“Take this as an appetizing tease,” the store said in its announcement.
Meanwhile, further uptown, Russ & Daughters decided to pull the plug on its five-year-old kiosk inside the Jewish Museum. “Russ & Daughters will not reopen its location at the Jewish Museum,” reads the statement on its website. “Russ & Daughters is refocusing on its core business.”
The news about the cafe, which debuted in May 2014, arrives about a month after word dropped that a new scripted series is in development about the Russ & Daughters appetizing empire.
