Seven-Story Office Building Headed to Bowery Lighting District
A new commercial office tower is coming soon to the so-called Bowery Lighting District.
Real Estate Equities Corp. submitted plans to Department of Buildings last month for an 85-foot commercial development at Bowery and Broome Street. The footprint will occupy the stretch of pre-war buildings spanning 156 to 166 Bowery; demolition permits were issued in June 2021.
Kinsmen Property Group, which owns the land beneath the assemblage comprising 156-166 Bowery, entered into a ground lease deal with Real Estate Equities Corp. for $50 million back in September 2020.
The $4 million project will yield 72,441 square-feet of commercial space, including a restaurant for the ground level. Application materials reveal that the structure might be used as a life science building with wet and dry labs and office space.
Perkins + Will Architects is tasked with design duties.
