Dedicated Bus Lanes Coming to M14 Line Along Essex Street this Month
Big changes are coming soon to the M14A/D bus line this month. What the Department of Transportation calls “better buses” improvements.
Southbound – curbside bus lanes on Essex Street between Delancey and Broome; plus an offset bus lane on Essex from Stanton to Delancey.
Northbound – installation of curbside bus lanes on Jackson Street, between Madison and Grand;
In addition to these enhancements, DOT will install turn bays (carve-out lanes) on Essex, East Houston, Stanton, Rivington, and Grand Streets.
Implementation is slated to begin any day now (i.e. June 2022).
The city agency hopes that the forthcoming changes will “build on the success of the 14th Street busway.”
This month, NYC DOT will begin #BetterBuses improvements on the M14 A/D corridor in the Lower East Side. This work will:
