Drunk Man Stumbles to his Death on the Tracks at Delancey Subway Station
Lots of crime and death at the Delancey Street-Essex Street subway station this spring.
The latest: a 24-year-old drunk man died shortly after midnight Sunday morning after losing his balance and falling onto the subway tracks. The fall transpired on the J platform of the station, and he reportedly did not make contact with a train or the third rail.
The victim – whose identity was not immediately released – was declared dead at Bellevue Hospital shortly after, police told reporters over the weekend.
The fatal fall came just a day after police released video of a suspect wanted in connection with an attack on a nineteen-year-old woman in the same subway station. The teen found herself in a chokehold and had been slashed several times by her aggressor, sustaining bruises on her back and neck.
