Fancy Shift on Essex Street as ‘Crown Affair’ Hair Care Takes Root
Fancy is as fancy does.
During the spring months, the facade covering the first two floors of 131 Essex was removed and replaced with a new matte-black exterior. An update likely influenced by the arrival of Essex Crossing at its doorstep.
That renovation work ultimately preceded the arrival of a fancy new tenant. We’re hearing that Crown Affair, the two-year-old hair care company founded by Dianna Cohen, recently signed a lease for office space on an upper floor.
The company specializes in products ranging from hair brushes to towels to shampoo and conditioner.
You’ll recall that this building previously housed Uruguayan eatery Charrua, which shuttered during the pandemic outset, and the Fancy Pharmacy, a stalwart for over three decades. (The latter relocated to 132 Allen.)
