Tammany Hall (not Backstage Bar) launched with a bang last night at 152 Orchard Street, thanks to alternative noise rockers Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Nigh on a week after the demise of the Doghouse Saloon at 152 Orchard Street, we now have the early word on the heir to the throne, as it were. Get ready for Backstage, a new bar/music venue which promises to bolster the endangered Lower East Side music scene.

And the day has arrived. Doghouse Saloon survived its month-long bout with renovations and, true to its word, is now serving again at 152 Orchard Street.

Ladies and gentlemen, Doghouse Saloon is officially official. Indeed, after six months catering to the frat set at 152 Orchard Street, proper signage is finally in place. “The Doghouse” is now stenciled across the security gate housing.

Doghouse Saloon might have some new cartoon signage and even an official events board, but The Annex still has dibs on 152 Orchard Street. At least until the decorative plate is removed from the black brick exterior.

Once upon a time The Annex was a loud party joint which showcased tons of live music. Lines would queue outside until all hours of the night. Now the joint is history.
