Slipper Room Demolition Begins

Demolition crews didn’t waste much time in dismantling the Slipper Room at 167 Orchard Street. Less than a week after the burlesque venue had its final party, the big takedown of the one-story structure is already in effect. And that tallish plywood encasement is hiding it all.

Discarded Matzo Outside Streit’s on Rivington

Outside the Streit’s Matzo factory at 148-154 Rivington Street the other night, four curbside dumpsters were topped off with unwanted matzos. We were surprised that flocks of pigeons were not feasting on the discarded meal.


Suzie’s Restaurant Closed for Renovations

Longtime Greenwich Village favorite Suzie’s Restaurant at 163 Bleecker Street is currently under the knife. The 38-year-old Chinese eatery will remain closed for a two-week period of renovations. Work on the interior began yesterday and should last until the end of May.
