Eviction Notice Served at 208 Bowery

While the Federal-style house at 206 Bowery grabs all the headlines for its swift attention at the Landmarks Preservation Commission, its immediate neighbor to the north isn’t as lucky.  A tipster informed us yesterday that eviction notices were served to 208 Bowery.

Vintage boutique newcomer The Sweet Ones opened at 132 Allen back in early November.  Seven months later, it’s now in trouble with the city.

Help Preserve 206 Bowery

We received an email yesterday from a resident of 206 Bowery regarding the eviction notice, its potential demolition, and possible landmarking.  As reported a couple weeks ago, the Federal-style row house is currently in danger after papers were served to the ground level restaurant supply company – J & D Restaurant Equipment.

Fat Hippo Eviction Notice

Just a tad over a year in business, and Fat Hippo at 71 Clinton Street seems to be in some hot water.  City Marshals served an eviction notice to the restaurant sometime yesterday.

206 Bowery to be Demolished?

We received a disturbing email from a concerned reader yesterday about the fate of the Federal-style house at 206 Bowery, opposite Rivington Street.  It seems demolition might be in the cards for this slice of city history.  An eviction notice is currently pasted to its security gate.

Update: Collective Hardware Artwork

In response to our post last Thursday, owner Stuart Braunstein wrote in to allay artists’ fears regarding retrieval of hostage artwork from the recently-shuttered Collective Hardware at 169 Bowery. It appears the artists will be permitted to grab their work from the five-story gallery space.

A concerned reader wrote in last night following news that Collective Hardware might be evicted from 169 Bowery.  Based on the email, it appears that numerous artists currently have their work trapped behind the freshly-padlocked doors.

Allen & Delancey Eviction Notice

There is another twist in the saga of the late Allen & Delancey.  Yesterday came the rumor that Matt Shendell would be opening a new restaurant at 115 Allen Street; and now the landlord has served Allen & Delancey LLC with an eviction notice.
