Fire Last Night in the First Floor of 137 Allen

Just after midnight, a fire tore through the laundromat on the first floor of 137 Allen Street. The building was evacuated and the flames quickly extinguished. Firefighters busted the doors of the adjacent businesses to ensure safety. Here are some photos of New York’s Bravest in action:

Congee Village Closed Until Further Notice

While the Lower East Side was still waking up, 101 Orchard Street was ablaze. Apparently a fire in the rear-facing kitchen of Congee Village spread through the building ductwork, and smoke enveloped the entire surrounding area.
